Leaders Lens: Episode 1 – Jeven Russell
Welcome to first episode in our new podcast format…this is our opportunity to have a chat on topics that pertain to what is happening in RC, what is happening in the industry and our partnership with Verizon, as well as a variety of topics that impact and influence how we do what we do – professionally and personally. We will engage in conversation with an array of RC Family members, SMEs, and some folks who can share a little perspective in our day.
Notes
Leadership is…what exactly? How would you define it?
Mindset. Skillset. Is it a title, task, attitude, or action? Something we execute or something we believe? Is it a noun or verb? Does it involve a very specific, formulaic approach or is it a flexible, improvised choice given the circumstances? Is it something we hold within ourselves or something we give out to others? Does it live out in a duties and responsibilities checklist or live out as options in the next right thing to do? It is all of these things and more.
Leadership is not one thing. It is an ever-evolving aspect of who we are and what we do. Which means, it depends.
This series is less a definition of what it is and more a journey of what it can be. “Leadership Is…” is an exploration into the things that impact and influence leadership.
Merriam-Webster has leadership defined one way as the act of guiding others toward a common goal. Simple. It is also complex, because it involves having that goal and objective with, perhaps more importantly, followers. Because without followers, are we really leading? Or is that putting it into box?
Therefore, my goal and objective, in this series is to cast a wide net and see what gets caught up in it. It is my intention to talk about what is may be, why it matters, how it takes shape, and to what extent it has influence.
We start with one question and let what happens next be the stuff that fills in the rest of the statement.
