150 years in, are YOU up to speed?
Telephones today bear scant resemblance to the huge, clunky, wire-strung, single-purpose devices that united voices a century and a half ago. Scientific, technological, and commercial innovations have surpassed the original purpose of the wired “landline” telephone, offering astounding capabilities and untold advancements that are always on the horizon.
Mr. Bell’s not-quite-unique invention (patented March 7, 1876, famously tested on March 10, unveiled publicly on June 25) had a single purpose. Once proven, the telephone revolutionized communication itself, then spawned and nourished whole new industries worldwide. Modern phones can predict our needs, get answers in a flash, and travel almost anywhere without failing. We’ve come a long way, baby!
On this National Telephone Day, Russell Cellular wants to know:
- Are YOU keeping up with the times?
- Do you KNOW what you’re missing out on?
- Don’t you DESERVE the finer things? (Of course you do.)
Take this quick Tech Check to see where you stand:
- Is the phone in your hand/pocket scratched and cracked? Smudged or grimy?
- Is the charging port clogged with fuzz?
- Do random children laugh about its laggy speed, low image quality, or pitifully basic functions right to your face?
These could all be troubling signs that your phone is way past its prime. An immediate upgrade is probably called for, but fret not, gentle readers – the news is good:
Russell Cellular offers great smartphone options from top brands plus great pricing, whether you locate a Verizon store or shop online. Choose the perfect device and plan to match your lifestyle today – and enjoy the best wireless experience on the nation’s most reliable 5G network. Check your local Verizon coverage and get connected now!
We try not to entertain such unpleasant thoughts, but can you imagine being without your phone? Gasp! Could you imagine if the wireless phone had never been invented, let alone the smartphone? We’d all be decoding “dots and dashes” sent across miles of telegraph cables – or waiting on the mail like simple cavemen.

Thankfully, Russell Cellular is the Verizon authorized retailer best prepared and most intent on providing the right solution for every customer, every time. We just don’t recommend waiting 150 years to upgrade!

Verizon’s 5G, 5G Ultra Wideband, and 4G LTE networks now reach most of the country and deliver solid performance for everyday online life – streaming, gaming, shopping, working, and learning.
In areas where it’s available, fiber optic internet adds another option for people who want even faster speeds, ultra‑low latency, and long‑term performance built for the future. Verizon Fios and Frontier Fiber already reach millions of American homes in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and South, with expansion occurring remarkably fast in other areas as well.
Is Fiber Internet Available Where I Live?
Fiber optic internet availability depends entirely on location. It can change from one street – or even one house – to the next, so checking your specific address is essential.
The easiest way to see what’s available at your home address or business is to use the Verizon Service Locator. It shows exactly which internet services you can order today and allows you to sign up for notifications if fiber is coming soon.
To get started:
- Visit the Verizon Service Locator (link above) and prompts will lead the way, or
- Visit a store for the right answers, connections, and one-on-one help, or
- Call Russell Cellular at 1-800-221-4408 for friendly experts ready to answer questions and provide solutions. (Business customers call 1-866-326-7549.)
- You can also see the Frontier Fiber coverage map and connect with a store in your area.

What Is Fiber Internet?
Fiber optic internet – often just called fiber – uses pulses of light to transmit data through ultra‑thin strands of glass or plastic. Instead of electrical signals, information travels at the speed of light, resulting in exceptional speed and efficiency.
Verizon Fios and Frontier Fiber deliver fiber directly to the home, literally connecting a physical address to the network. Once a fiber connection is in place, it’s designed to support consistent performance, high bandwidth, and modern digital demands.
Fiber Optic Internet Benefits
Fiber is built for households that use the internet heavily and often – especially when multiple devices are online at the same time. Fiber offers some of the fastest residential internet speeds available today.
Key Fiber Benefits
- Ultra‑fast speeds, with plans reaching up to 10 Gbps
- Symmetrical upload and download speeds, great for video calls, cloud backups, and content creation
- Low latency and stable performance, even during busy times
This makes fiber a strong choice for streaming in 4K, competitive gaming, working from home, online learning, and smart‑home technology.
When Will Fiber Internet Availability Occur Locally?
If Verizon Fios or Frontier Fiber isn’t available at your address yet, don’t worry – expansion is ongoing. Rolling out fiber nationwide takes time, and new neighborhoods are added every year. When fiber does arrive, you’ll have access to one of the fastest and most capable home internet technologies available.

Artificial Intelligence is…
Google has a very straight forward definition for AI. Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence by machines, enabling them to learn, reason, problem-solve, and create. It is a branch of computer science that uses algorithms and data to perform tasks that typically require human cognition. It exists in all sorts of industries and so below the surface, we probably don’t know about it and just take it for granted.
It is used for a variety of purposes like system automation and efficiency, data processing, financial forensics, software development, and the one many of us love and hate – personalization and tailored recommendations. It’s fast, exact, consistent, and has 24/7 availability.
But again, most of us live outside its processing use. Except maybe in one area where I believe we are the most aware of its power. Consider ChatGPT, or perhaps its alternatives like Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, and Meta. We ask a question or enter in a couple of facts, and we get our answer, as well as that sought after paper, speech, proposal, or blog.

Are we smarter than AI?
I have never used ChatGPT when writing. I fight the urge. Not because I think I am better or more profound. Certainly not “smarter” or more literary. I just feel the need to make it perfectly imperfect. Let’s be real, I’m not that naïve. I know that happens when I type whatever into the search bar of Chrome. What comes to the screen next may be called Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI), and limited…for now…but it still fills the knowledge gap. It simply provides answers, solutions, and recommendations that make our work easier. Or at least seemingly so.
For me, that’s where the danger lies. We acquiesce. Easier means we accept, comply, or agree to something silently, reluctantly, or without protest. Pause for moment. Does easier mean better? Does convenience overshadow complexity? Does unbiased efficiency matter more than conscious emotion?
This is where we surpass AI. Not in our surrender, but in what makes us uniquely human. Maybe it’s our capacity to navigate and balance facts and feelings. It’s our awareness. In an awareness mindset about what AI is and what AI isn’t, we may consider this question. Where do I still add value in a world where AI seems to be out-thinking and outpacing us?

Humanity will always trump artificial intelligence.
So, I came across an article from one of my favorite thought leaders, Dan Pink. The 6 Skills AI Will Never Replace (The Pink Report Newsletter) provides insight and encouragement in six ways we, humans, have the edge and can amplify what AI can do for us and with us.
Asking better questions. Pink shared, “When answers are everywhere, questions become the scarce resource. When answers get cheap, curiosity becomes priceless.” When you are knee-deep in what you’re doing and considering a resource to help, before you worry about all the possible answers, consider all the possible questions. Questions open the door to breakthrough and possibility.
Developing good taste. Pink offered, “Taste…discernment, judgment, the ability to tap your experience, your intuition, and your values and look at a pile of options and say with confidence…that one, that’s it. Iterating relentlessly. AI provides the raw material. Taste shapes it into something real.” Each day we curate our choices. We are constantly creating good, better, and best solutions for what lies ahead. Taste is our filter for all our choices.
Iterating Relentlessly. Pink said, “Here’s the part we don’t like admitting. Most good things start out bad. The magic isn’t in the first spark. The magic is in the relentless revision. AI accelerates the quantity. Iteration delivers the quality.” You don’t have to get it right the first time. You just have to get it right over time. Knowledge gives you options. Iteration gives you excellence.
Composing pieces into something meaningful. Pink stated, “Composition is the ability to synthesize rather than analyze…to see relationships between and combine elements in a way that makes the whole larger and more powerful than the sum of the parts. AI is excellent at delivering ingredients. Humans are better at serving meals.” Be mindful of the ways you arrange and organize what you do to create a clear, balanced, and meaningful action plan.
Allocating human and machine talent. Pink added, “Allocation is knowing which tools to use, which people to involve, which systems to engage, and at what moment. AI multiplies intelligence, allocation decides where to aim it.” Compose, and then distribute and assign your resources accordingly with specific purpose to achieve your desired result.
Acting with integrity. This is where I believe humans far exceed AI. Pink finished, “When intelligence becomes abundant, wisdom becomes even more valuable. And wisdom is rooted in integrity, in making choices based on honesty, fairness, responsibility, and accountability. Integrity isn’t abstract. It’s practical. AI may reshape everything we do, but only integrity and wisdom determine who we become.” This truly human skill bests AI every time because real empathy and connection with another cannot be programmed. It is the product of being fully seen, heard, and felt.

AI is not a replacement for humans; it is a tool for humans to be better.
Embrace AI. Leverage it wisely. And remember one of Dan Pink’s powerful shares, “Technological assets do help you, but your humanity will always be your most tradable asset.” Simply put, “When the world gets more artificial, we need to get more human.”
If you’re embracing the world of AI as it aligns to what you do, consider the following questions.
- What is/are the most common way/ways you engage AI?
- Where does it typically show up in your day-to-day?
- What do you like about it? What do you dislike?
- List one tangible way you can leverage AI to improve your job and/or your team’s job?
- Think of a time before AI. Were things better or worse? Why?
- Consider the six ways humanity trumps AI. Which one or more do you do well? Which one or more needs to improve?

The S26 Series reveals AI-supported advancements and component-material upgrades for a high-quality, high-tech experience.
Last month the Galaxy S26 series of smartphones had critics and fans buzzing excitedly at Samsung’s Unpacked event, but only pre-orders were available. TODAY they’re in stores and shipping everywhere – and Verizon is making crazy good deals for a stellar market intro. There’s no better time than now for Samsung fans to set their hearts on the latest Galaxy, and no better reason than what Samsung just delivered. We recommend letting Russell Cellular show you the way.
From AI-driven productivity and better hardware to a growing Galaxy-connected environment, the S26 lineup offers loyalists and new customers a useful set of technological leaps. Far from a minimal makeover or set of superficial bug fixes, the impressive gains in this series are evident and appreciable throughout the user experience.
Samsung’s latest and greatest rolled out three updated models:
All three sport substantial camera upgrades, next-gen Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets, more durable, efficient, and resilient batteries, and sleek, dynamic new designs. The S26 series camera systems, both hardware and software, are designed to improve the user’s photo and video quality in tougher lighting conditions. Professionals are already lauding the results.
Compare Specs and Features of the Galaxy S26 Series smartphones.

A Better Camera and AI Bring Automatic Quality Improvements to Photography and Videography Projects
Recording photos or video moments is among Samsung’s most popular or even essential functions, and here Galaxy S26 raises the bar by more than a little.
Prior to the Unpacked event in February, Galaxy users had anticipated a better camera system in the S26 series. Few had expected how dramatic the improvements or how effective the solutions would be. The technical upgrades include a faster f/1.4 main aperture and f/2.9 5x telephoto aperture, a new 24MP AI Fusion mode, improved 200MP HDR processing, and Samsung’s advanced Nightography Video for clearer, steadier footage.
Photo Assist with Galaxy AI empowers users to remove unwanted objects from photos, restore details, apply artistic styles like painting, add whimsical drawings, and more. When imagination meets inspiration, the Galaxy S26 is ready to bring artistic vision to life in your visual and aural media. Creative Studio lets users create stickers, personalize photos, and even generate new images from simple prompts.

Innovative Built-in Privacy Display and AI Give S26 Ultra Users a Security Edge
In a world where personal privacy is rapidly disappearing, the S26 Ultra bucks the downslide with the first built-in Privacy Display. The technology keeps “shoulder surfers” from seeing or watching your screen without your knowledge and permission, without impeding your own view in the least. Toggle on/off instantly as you prefer.
Plastic privacy screen add-ons for mobile phones have long been available, but Galaxy S26 offers a hybrid solution to the mechanical problem, a clever cure built into the screen and programmed behind it. What’s more – the S26’s larger, vibrant display automatically enriches color for photos and videos, driven by Galaxy AI, so your view is better than ever!

Pair Smartphones with Tablets and AI-Enhanced Wearable Devices for the Most Immersive Mobile Connectivity on the Market
Samsung Unpacked 2026 also marked the premiere of Galaxy Buds4 series earbuds (available to pre-order as of March 2026), designed to leverage the AI-enhanced powers of the S26 smartphone for a beautiful listening experience. Both Buds4 and Buds4 Pro feature Active Noise Cancellation and a more comfortable ergonomic, stylish design with pinch controls.
Currently in beta testing (as of March 2026), the Samsung One UI 8.5 update aims to enhance customization, AI integration, and security for Galaxy devices. Early users have noted a vastly improved customizable quick panel, better Bixby with AI, and a more flexible lock screen and wallet.

Galaxy S25 Owners Want to Know: Is NOW the Time to Upgrade?
Answer: That really depends on you! Both Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S26 series smartphones are powerful, durable, and flexible smart devices. The main differences lie in their overall performance, with S26 Ultra using the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 for Galaxy processor for example and the S25 Ultra running the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor. Both processors deliver robust mobile gaming and AI capabilities. Galaxy S26 buyers might be better poised to integrate future developments, but at this time, S25 owners should have no concern for their devices losing compatibility or support. Still, many may consider the fascinating innovations brought with this release to have irresistible allure.
Unpacked ‘26: Future Samsung Product Releases to Integrate with AI-Powered Galaxy Ecosystem
Calculated to pique interest without revealing its hand, Samsung “strongly hinted” at product releases to come, reinforcing its commitment to developing a virtual star cluster of technological marvels around its flagship phones.
In an official statement, Samsung said the Galaxy S26 series represents “the next evolution of the ever‑expanding Galaxy ecosystem,” foretelling a deeper integration across phones, wearables, and AI‑driven software.
The Galaxy S26 series offers users a compelling reason and a clear roadmap to explore new powers enabled by AI and brilliant human minds. As for Russell Cellular, we are here for it! To learn more about the Samsung S26 series, stop by your local store today!

The only thing you have to fear is fear itself. And public speaking.
I heard once that the greatest fear in the world is public speaking. Followed by spiders and snakes, and then death. Interesting. Based on this sequence, we would rather be in the casket covered in spiders and snakes than give the eulogy.
It is logical to assume that fear is learned. We aren’t born with it. As a child, we grow into experience and, along the way, we manufacture our fear. We label it and then assign a degree of influence when it shows within our lives. At some point, we develop an ongoing rational or irrational momentary emotional response to a person, place, thing, or situation. Consider then, do we fear a thing or do we fear being afraid?

Any fear is always worse than the thing itself.
That’s the big “aha” (a.k.a. take-away) regarding fear. Fear can absolutely get the better of us. Ah, but is it really fear or is it a phobia? They’re not the same thing. Fear is a rational, temporary emotional response to real or immediate danger in the moment. Whereas a phobia is an intense, irrational, and persistent fear of a specific object or situation disproportionate to the actual danger and can be felt at any time.
Think about when we are working with customers or team members, are we afraid of people, or are we fearful and anxious when we interact with others? One is Anthropophobia, the intense, irrational, and persistent fear of people often manifesting as extreme social anxiety, and the other is conversational anxiety. The latter is very common and activated because we fear judgment, criticism, and not meeting our potential. In addition, we can fear failure. We may fear when we lack confidence, and we usually fear not having control. We can have a fear of the unknown, uncertain, and the unexpected. We doubt ourselves, and that creates fear. The list goes on. But…what would be possible if we had no fear?

The only thing worse than fear is regret.
Regret for lost opportunities. Let’s be real, no one likes fear or feeling afraid, and yet its very existence reminds us we are not only alive, but in the game. Fear opens the door to experience, resiliency, and creativity which stimulates us to make the most out of opportunities.
So, how do we flip the fear factor?
First off, name it. Recognize when it occurs, identify the triggers, and go deep for the root cause. After that, ask if “the fear” is truly based on facts or just some false narrative we’ve made part of our story. Then, shift the perspective. Focus on reframing fear as a growth opportunity. And then, most importantly, act even when feeling it. Don’t get stuck. Keep moving. Use fear. Learn from it and let it refine you. Remember, courage is not acting without fear, it’s acting in spite of it, in the midst of it.

Fear is a messenger, not a prophet
I wholeheartedly believe that fear should be treated as a signal rather than a prediction. The former highlights something to pay attention to while the latter shapes an outlook for the future. Fear stimulates our awareness in a moment and brings with it a message that needs to be unpacked. More times than not, we can tend to see it as something that creates a focus on the future…and we can feel afraid. The thing is that fear is not a “prophet” because it does not, with 100% accuracy, tell the future.
When we engage in our day, we need to acknowledge that fear is a message for us to pay attention. To not lose sight or focus on what’s important. Even in spite of our fear. And to pay attention to what we have going on inside us and all the stuff outside of us that can shape our decisions. Just because we are afraid doesn’t mean we will “undoubtedly” fail and not accomplish great things.
From what I have learned over time, fear is a detour, not a dead end. So, embrace fear. Because there’s fear in a moment, and fear of a future. One provokes action and the other promotes getting stuck. Where will fear lead you when you face it? Not if… but when.

If you’re interested in embracing fear and letting it refine you, consider the following questions.
- Define fear.
- When it shows up, what does it look like – sound like – feel like?
- Where does it typically show up?
- What are the triggers?
- Does it manifest with specific people, places, things, or situations? Why?
- What needs to happen to change the face of fear?
- Think of a time when fear changed you for the better. What happened?
- What’s possible if you had no fear?
